Data protection and privacy

IMOP Insights is a Spanish company dedicated to social and market research. In the course of our research we are obliged to ask the interviewee for certain personal data. As data controllers of this information we comply with the GDPR in force.

IMOP Insights also complies with all the guidelines laid down by CCI-ESOMAR for the practice of social and market research which, although it does not legislate, clearly establishes the good practices to be followed in order to protect the personal data of informants.

IMOP Insights, S.A. also adheres to the Code of Conduct CODIM for the processing of personal data by Market, Social, Opinion and Data Analysis Research organisations.

IMOP Insights promotes and establishes the necessary processes for the company’s staff to be aware of its data protection and privacy policy: fundamental aspects of the legislation, research processes necessary to comply with the legislation, consequences of non-compliance, security measures that must be taken into account, and rights of respondents and participants.

The GDPR establishes a number of principles that must be respected in the processing of personal data, such as:

Data from respondents and panellists

The personal data of individuals who collaborate in our research will only be used for the research purposes that are communicated to them and to which they explicitly consent. Under no circumstances will it be used to offer them products and services or for advertising purposes.

Access to the data of interviewees and panellists is restricted to the technical staff involved and limited to the research for which the information is requested, be it online/offline panellists, offline interviewees or databases provided by our clients for specific studies.

In all cases the information you provide and your views will be treated anonymously and aggregated.

On occasion – but only where necessary to carry out a particular piece of research – we may ask you for data classified as “specially protected”. This includes data such as sexual orientation, political ideology, ethnic origin, religious convictions, political or trade union affiliation.

If we collect personal data from a source other than the data subject himself or herself, we will ensure in a written contract that this source has informed the data subject in advance about the transfer of his or her data. In addition, in the first contact with the interviewee, the source of the data and all legally required information will be communicated to the interviewee.

IMOP Insights will always request the consent of the legal guardian for the processing of data of children under 14 years of age in accordance with Spanish legislation.

IMOP Insights has implemented physical, electronic and organisational procedures to ensure the security of the information we handle and to prevent accidental loss, unauthorised disclosure or access by unauthorised personnel. If there is any violation in this security process that poses a risk to the rights and freedoms of individuals, it will be reported within 72 hours to the AEPD and to the interested party as soon as possible.

The personal data collected from interviewees will be kept for the time necessary for research purposes. No data will be communicated to third parties unless it is necessary for the fulfilment of legal obligations.

Any person has the right to:

Verify whether IMOP Insights is processing their personal data, and if so, they have the right to access them, and request their rectification or, where appropriate, their deletion when, among other reasons, the data are no longer necessary for the purposes for which they were collected.

Request the limitation of the processing of your data, in which case IMOP Insights will limit its use to the cases authorised by law.

Oppose the processing of your data in certain circumstances.

Exercise the right of portability to obtain the data in electronic format or to have it transferred to another entity.

The interested party may exercise these rights by the following means: e-mail to the address imop@imop.es, post to c/ Antracita, 7-4º 28045 – Madrid, always attaching any identification document that allows proof of identity and clearly indicating the right that he/she wishes to exercise.

Employee data

Access to employees’ personal data is limited to staff involved in the management of contracts, payroll and human resources. Employee data will be kept for as long as the contractual relationship is maintained, plus the established legal period. No data will be communicated to third parties unless it is necessary for the fulfilment of legal obligations. Personal data voluntarily provided to us by job applicants are processed exclusively for the purpose of the recruitment process.

Supplier and customer data

The personal data provided to us by our clients will be used to maintain contractual relationships, and to send them and others who may be interested in news about our activities, research and services.

IMOP Insights requires, by written contract, our suppliers to comply with the data protection clauses of the GDPR and also commits to its clients by contract to comply with the current regulation.

Supplier and customer data is retained until consent is withdrawn or, where applicable, for as long as required by law. No data will be disclosed to third parties unless it is necessary for the fulfilment of legal obligations.

Respondents, panellists, employees, customers and suppliers can check how the company treats their personal data in accordance with all applicable regulations.

Respondents, panelists, employees, suppliers and clients may file a complaint related to the processing of their personal data before the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es), whenever they consider that IMOP Insights may be in breach of the Data Protection regulations.
